METHOD OF WORK (Linecross)
Drilling through holes for Ejectors on Krauss Machines
Machine Id :-
Date :-
(for crane read overhead crane or gantry)
- The platen area of the machine should be clear of any obstruction i.e. conveyors, chutes, boxes, hoses etc.
and the area should be clean and safe for our engineers to work.
- Engineers working :- Mr Mark Wilson and/or Mr Adrian Russell
Method of work for Drilling
- Initial contact is established with client, and any induction completed.
- The mobile equipment i.e. power pack, working storage bench, trolley, drilling rig are off loaded at a suitabler
roller shutter door at the level of the machine.
- The equipment wheeled to the machine.
- Once in position connections are made from the power pack to the clients 16 Amp 3Ph+N+E electrical and air
supply.
- The platen is opened / closed to a pre-determined distance by the clients engineers. (Approx 1550mm)
- The ejector plate is taken fully forward.
- The machine is powered off
- The ejector plate is locked in position with a jack
- The location template is lifted in and secured by clamps to the moving platen.
- A 20mm bush is fitted in the template to give the location for the hole to be drilled.
- The drilling rig is lifted into the machine under the direction of our engineers to its required position on
the machine.
- Clamps are used to lock the drilling rig in place on the template.
- The rear of the rig is jacked to the fixed platen.
- The rig is checked for level.
- The hole is drilled to 20mm all through, and the ejector plate spotted when the 20mm drill breaks through.
- The hole is opened up to 40mm.
- The ejector plate is drilled and tapped M20.
- During the drilling operation it may be necessary to re-sharpen cutting tools, this can be done using our rig
equipment or the clients equipment but must be carried out by our engineers.
- The hole is chamfered.
- The 20mm bush is the put in position for the next hole.
- The rig is re-attached to the crane, unclamped and moved to the position for the next operation.
- The metal swarf that is generated by the operation of drilling / tapping is contained as best as possible.
- When all the holes are drilled / tapped, the drilling rig is lifted out of the machine.
- The template is lifted out of the machine.
- The jack is removed from the ejector plate and the ejector plate is taken back.
- After the work has been completed the machine is left clean and tidy of the metal swarf that was generated.
The swarf remains the property of the client.
- Inspection and approval by the customer.
- The equipment is wheeled back to the loading area where it is loaded into the van.
- After signing out, our engineers leave the site.
Waiting time due to circumstances beyond our control is chargeable at £90.00 per hour.
Should there be any cancellation or postponement of work when the engineers have arrived on site, there will
be a charge of £900.00 per day plus any expenses incurred.
